Nymfeo
Within an one hour drive radius from Nymfeo, there is a great variety of interesting destinations to visit:
- The renowned archaeological sites of Pella and Vergina.
- The picturesque city of Kastoria, known all over the world as the centre of fur craftsmanship, and the nearby Dyspilio neolithic findings of a village built, literally, on the lake.
- The big Aliakmonas and the beautiful Acheloos, as well as the Aoos river the cleanest in Europe, with canoe and kayak facilities and breathtaking scenery.
- The numerous Byzantine monasteries scattered throughout the woods and the mountain tops.
- The fine vineyards of the Northwestern Greece where the famous xinomavro is grown, an ancient patented variety that produces strong-bodied red as well as natural pink wine.
- The four top ski-centers of Vasilitsa, Vigla, Agios Athanasios and Veroia.
- And last but not least, the lakes, best known of which is that of Prespes, habitat of more than 250 kinds of birds, some of which quite rare.
